Holiday tennis titles decided at Sun Valley

Ideal summer weather and excellent tennis competition marked the 2011 Lyle Pearson 4th of July Tennis Championships at Sun Valley Resort Saturday through Monday, July 2-4.

Boise tennis prospect Bianca Mok, 14, earned her second straight Women's Open title while Anthony Hunt of Boise took the Men's Open championship. There was action in 19 different classes with 230 entries.

Biggest bracket was the 20-player Men's 4.0 singles group, with John Kanellitsas of Hailey edging his son Tim Kanellitsas.

Top results from the 2011 Independence Day meet. Next up is the Labor Day tennis tournament Sept. 3-5 on the Sun Valley courts:

Singles

Men's Open championship—Anthony Hunt of Boise 1-6, 7-6 (3), 6-2 over Steve Marshburn of Pocatello.

Consolation final—Kenneth Dodd 7-6 (5), 6-0 over Julien Min Fa (16 players).

Men's 5.0 championship—Julien Min Fa 6-2, 6-2 over John Armstrong.

In the semi-finals, Min Fa won 6-3, 6-2 over Raleigh Grossbaum.

Consolation final winner—Raleigh Grossbaum of Ketchum 6-2, 6-4 over Eric Hieb (9 players).

Men's 4.5 championship—Nick Wilson 6-3, 6-4 over Kory Putnam.

Consolation final—Larry Rezendes 7-5, 6-4 over Tim Kanellitsas of Hailey. In the consolation semi-finals, Kanellitsas got past Josh Morell of Ketchum 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 (8 players).

Men's 4.0 championship—John Kanellitsas 6-3, 7-6 (8) over Tim Kanellitsas in a father-son match.

In the semi-finals of the weekend's biggest bracket, Tim Kanellitsas won 6-3, 6-7 (7), 6-1 over Phil Ellis and John Kanellitsas prevailed 6-3, 6-4 over Josh Morell.

Consolation final—Chris MacMillan 6-2, 6-4 over Christian Kontaxis (20 players).

Men's 3.5 championship—Francisco Delatorre won the round-robin with the following victories: 6-1, 6-2 over Steve Olmstead; 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 over Patrick Riedinger and 6-0, 6-2 over Alec Tzeng (4 players).

Women's Open championship—Bianca Mok of Boise kept her title 6-3, 6-3 over Skylar Schossberger of Boise.

Consolation final—Rachel Moorhead 6-1, 6-0 over Jami Garver (6 players).

Women's 4.0 championship—Sabina Delatorre of Coral Gables, Fla. retained her championship 6-4, 6-3 over Cara Erdheim.

Consolation final—Maya Burrell 6-2, 6-4 over Mary Foust (5 players).

Doubles

Men's Open championship—Jayson Mok and Matt Oddonetto 6-1, 6-2 over Bjorn Eide-Steve Marshburn.

Consolation final—Kenneth Dodd and Alec Marx 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 over Tyson Hunter and Sam Lemmon (6 teams).

Men's 4.5 championship—Colby Gempler and Brian Johnson 6-1, 6-2 over Mike Buckingham and Steve Caven.

Consolation final—Kirk Porritt and Larry Rezendes 6-1, 6-4 over Christian Kontaxis and Michael Kontaxis (10 teams).

Men's 4.0 championship—Justin Dye and Sam Langston 6-3, 6-3 over Adam Tzeng and Di-Yuan Tzeng.

Consolation final—Phil Ellis and Chris MacMillan 6-1, 6-1 over Jesse Curtis and David Tupper (11 teams).

Men's 3.5 championship—Trever Browne and Steve Olmstead won the round-robin with these victories: 6-2, 2-6, 10-3 over Jack Daliere and Joel Berman; 7-5, 6-2 over Marc Steinberg and Bear Steinberg (3 teams).

Women's Open doubles championship—Rachel Moorhead and Rilee Moorhead won the round robin with these victories: 4-6, 6-2, 10-8 over Bianca Mok and Fiona Mok; and 6-2, 7-5 over Stephanie Jasper and Pamela Massey (3 teams).

Women's 4.5 championship—Jennifer Colson and Holly Johnson won the round-robin with these wins: 7-6 (6), 7-5 over Amy Bailey and Valerie Roberts; and 6-1, 6-3 over Dawna Buckingham and Channing Yip (3 teams).

Women's 4.0 championship—Darlene Miller and Susan Schossberger 7-6 (5), 4-6, 10-4 over Barbara Figge and Kris Miller.

Consolation final—Laurie Fitzpatrick and Alma Mills 6-3, 6-1 over Cindy Biedebach and Carla Latta (8 teams).

Women's 3.5 championship—Jennifer Dye and Annie Langston won the round-robin with these wins: 6-0, 6-0 over Stacy Courtial and Brianna Kitterman; 6-2, 6-1 over Jolene Kotzerke and Stephanie Kerbs; and 6-3, 7-6 (4) over Trina Ciocca and Becki Tupper (4 teams).

Mixed Open championship—Anthony Hunt and Lynda Dimick 6-4, 7-5 over Jayson Mok and Bianca Mok.

Consolation final—Dan Buckingham and Rilee Moorhead 6-3, 6-1 over Steven Schossberger and Amanda Alexander (6 teams).

Mixed 9.0 championship—Mike Buckingham and Gina Sharp 6-4, 6-2 over Brian Johnson and Lynda Dimick.

Consolation final—Colby Gempler and Valerie Brauner by default (6 teams).

Mixed 8.0 championship—Jerry Ball and Sheryl Putnam 3-6, 6-3, 11-9 over Di-Yuan Tzeng and Susan Schossberger.

Consolation final—Kirk Porritt and Diana Gastanaga 6-4, 3-6, 10-6 over Trever Browne and Channing Yip (6 teams).

Mixed 7.0 championship—Christian Kontaxis and Karen Mahoney 6-2, 6-1 over Michael Jaffe and Rhonda Jaffe.

Consolation final winners—Eric Hartvigsen and Annie Flanagan 5-7, 6-3, 13-11 over A.H. Alexander and Charlotte Alexander (12 teams).
