Several Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation (SVSEF) cross-country skiers have been selected to attend U.S. Ski Team Development Camps this summer, according to SVSEF Nordic coach Rick Kapala.
The selections were based on results from the 2010-11 winter race season. Attending these camps provides our young junior age class skiers with a great opportunity to train with other high-level skiers and learn from USST coaching staff, Kapala said.
Invited from the SVSEF to the U.S. J2 (ages 14-15) Talent Camp July 31-Aug. 8 at Houghton, Mich. were Sloan Storey, Maggie Williams, Maranda Stopol and Zachary Lindahl.
Kapala said, “This camp is the first step in the National Development Pipeline for younger cross country skiers. The camp will attract many of the top 14- and 15-year-old skiers from across the country for a week of training, technique instruction and training methodology instruction.”
Invited to the U.S. Ski Team Western Region Development Camp June 21-27 at Park City, Utah were Erik Fagerstrom, Daniel Sundali, Annie Pokorny and Emily Williams.
“This camp brings together the top 12 boys and top 12 girls from the Western U.S. ages 16-19 (J1 and Older Juniors) for a week of intensive training and sport education,” he added.
