Ride Sun Valley has announced a special category just added to the downtown Ketchum Fat Tire Criterium on Thursday, July 14, during the Ride Sun Valley Bike Festival. The new citizens' racing class will allow teams of four representing local businesses, clubs, cliques or any other bond to sign up and race for the glory in a grudge match for summer bragging rights.
Starting time for the Fat Tire Criterium is 6:30 p.m. in front of the Sun Valley-Ketchum Visitor Center in downtown Ketchum.
Teams will be composed of four riders with a minimum one female per team. The race will be 16 laps with each rider completing four laps, alternating riders each lap.
Teams will be allowed only one bike and it will serve as the "baton," being passed from one team member to the next for each subsequent lap.
Side bets and trash talking are highly encouraged.
Registration will be held the day of the event at 4 p.m. at the start/finish line in front of the Visitor Center. The night will include amateur and pro categories and kids racing as well.
