91 golfers tee it up at Nelson Memorial tourney

Nice spring day at The Valley Club

The Wood River Baseball and Softball Association (WRBSA) staged its first James Nelson Memorial Golf Tournament on a lovely spring afternoon Saturday, May 21 at The Valley Club. The event was held in memory of longtime valley baseball supporter James Nelson, 42, who died March 19. Many of Nelson's relatives and friends gathered for the scramble tournament that featured 91 golfers and nearly 23 teams. Among those posing here at the Valley Club are Nelson's surviving brothers, his two sons Zachary and Andrew, a nephew and a cousin. They are, from left, Harold Nelson, Paul Nelson, Mike Nelson, Andrew Nelson (in front of Mike), Zachary Nelson, Kenny Nelson, Scott Nelson (son of Paul), Brian Nelson and David Nelson.
