Marketing chief appointment delayed

Alliance says candidate needs visa

The Sun Valley Marketing Alliance has found a preferred candidate for its chief marketing officer position but will have to wait for a federal OK.

"We have found an outstanding candidate," said board President Jake Peters. "This person has quality, success, and experience ... far greater than we could have hoped for. That's the good news."

The bad news, he said, is that the candidate requires a U.S. government visa to work here. Although the application is in process, there is no way to know if it will be approved.

"We'll know more in 50 days," Peters said.

Because the applicant still holds another position, Peters declined to provide any identifying information.

Candice Pate has been serving as interim chief marketing officer since October. The alliance more a month ago said it would name a permanent officer within 20 days.

Meanwhile, the alliance's efforts are moving forward, Peters said.

"Nothing is static while we wait for this magical person to come," he said.
