Moms do deserve a special day. Why? She will dig out the bit of change in her purse to buy treats. She listens to stories no matter the subject matter. She will call to say hello when no else does. She will take care of a bruised knee or a broken heart. She is a caregiver, best friend and go-to woman for anything.

On Sunday, May 8, the Wood River Valley will celebrate Mother's Day through several events to honor one of the most important members of a family. Of course, Dad gets his day on Sunday, June 19.

How do you show Mom love? Take her to brunch at Cristina's, buy her a plant from Sun Valley Garden Center or Webb, give her chocolate from the Sun Valley Chocolate Foundry, send her cruising in style from Sturtos, present her with something special from the Picket Fence or send her flowers from Primavera.

Mom may also enjoy a special gift from The Hunger Coalition to help out single moms and struggling mothers of families in times of need. The Hunger Coalition provides wholesome groceries and a sense of security, especially for mothers who are experiencing tough economic times. To make a gift, visit thehungercoalition.org or send a gift to The Hunger Coalition, 121 Honeysuckle St., Bellevue, ID 83313. In addition, The Hunger Coalition invites donors to share a story about their mother being an inspiration. The Hunger Coalition will send a note to the mother who was the inspiration for the donation.
