Caritas Chorale to perform spring concert

Choir will sing challenging songs

Caritas Chorale, under the direction of Dick Brown, is the premier community choir in the Wood River Valley. For the choir's spring performance, Caritas Chorale will perform "A Psalm of David" by composer Norman Dello Joio and two motets, "O Magnum Mysterium" and "O Nata Lux" by composer Morten Laurdsen. The free performances will take place Saturday, May 7, and Friday, May 8, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Sun Valley.

Brown said these pieces are some of the most difficult works Caritas Chorale has practiced for a live performance. R.L. Rowsey will accompany the choir on the piano.

"A Psalm of David" is a dramatic and rhythmically difficult piece about an English Renaissance writer asking for forgiveness of sins. The motets "O Magnum Mysterium" and "O Nata Lux" are very melodic and beautiful with spiritual significance.

All concerts are free. Donations are appreciated.
