With the state-qualifying 4th District 3A prep tennis tournament coming up May 13 at Sun Valley Tennis Club, The Community School tennis team picked up the pace this week playing competitive meets and matches against 4A schools.

Monday, Twin Falls came up to Sun Valley and went home with a 7-5 victory that translated into 3.5-2.5 wins in boys' and girls' tabulations. Cutthroat coach Phil Huss said, "We enjoy playing Twin Falls. The tennis was really good."

Cutthroat singles winners were No. 2 Zach Lindahl and No. 1 Morgan Jones in split sets, and No. 3 Chloe Chrysikopoulos in straight sets. In boys' doubles, No. 2 Taylor Adler and Nick Wright won in two sets.

The most exciting match of the day happened in No. 2 mixed doubles, where Reed Roudabush and Chloe Francois of The Community School prevailed in a third-set tiebreaker.

Last week, the Cutthroats defeated Gooding and Mountain Home by 10-2 scores, and fell to 5A Highland Saturday in Pocatello by a score of 10-2.

At Highland, No. 2 girls' singles Emma Wilander won in straight sets and No. 2 boys' singles Lindahl triumphed in three sets. Sun Valley's No. 1 boys' singles Tim Kanellitsas lost in a third-set tiebreaker in what coach Huss called the best tennis match of the year.

The Cutthroats hosted Wood River High Tuesday, and take to the courts at Sun Valley Tennis Club again Friday, May 6 at 3:30 p.m. against league foe Sugar-Salem of Sugar City.
