SV Summer Symphony School of Music to hold honors recital

The Sun Valley Summer Symphony School of Music will present its annual Honors Recital on Sunday, May 1, at 4 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of the Big Wood in Ketchum. The performance is free and open to the public.

The concert will feature top students who auditioned to earn a place on the recital. Auditions this year were competitive with 30 students vying for an opportunity to perform. The program will include the selected string, vocal and piano soloists, and the advanced chamber orchestra will perform selections from Antonio Vivaldi's "Four Seasons."

The Sun Valley Summer Symphony will present the Carol Nie Outstanding Music Student Award to a student nominated and selected by a panel of faculty and symphony board members. The annual award was created in honor of Carol Nie, founder of the School of Music, and is accompanied by a $1,000 prize that the student can use to further his or her musical studies.
