The Wood River High School Robotics Team 1588 would like to thank publicly the donors and sponsors who supported our trip to Orlando, Fla. last week to compete in the VEX Robotics World Championship.
The students have been selling hex bugs much of the school year as a fundraiser and also would like to thank the Papoose Club, Hailey Kiwanis, Hailey Rotary, Power Engineers and Marsha Edwards for supporting us and the students' efforts.
The world championships attracted 10,000 competitors and more than 400 high school robotics teams representing 21 countries. The students finished with a 6-3 record, winning the last four matches in a row.
They represented themselves and our community very well and the team members are proud of their strong finish and outstanding efforts. Not only did they learn the obvious technical skills that it requires to design, build and program a quality robot, but they learned many life lessons along the way. That is immeasurable.
