Budding botanists can learn how gardens grow this summer at Sawtooth Botanical Garden near Gimlet Road south of Ketchum.

"I like to call it our five-acre outdoor classroom," said Allison Kennedy, education director.

Registration is now being accepted for the garden's 2011 summer garden camps.

Each month will have a specific emphasis, with classes taking place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Children ages 4-10 can sign up for one session or all six per month. Camp sessions include pollination in June and the growing of and caring for plants in July. Children will harvest and prepare meals straight from the soil in August.

The June Garden Camp will take place from June 13-29, the July Garden Camp will take place from July 11-27 and the August Garden Camp will span Aug. 1-17.

One class costs $25 for members and $35 for nonmembers, with an entire month's sessions costing $125 for members and $175 for nonmembers.
