The Casino Dancing Bears nearly went into their victory dance a little early, but the Bears man-aged to hold off the Sofa Kings for the team championship of the 20th annual Town Series alpine ski racing event on Baldy Wednesday.

After five straight weeks under the desired 1.00-point level, Casino Dancing Bears (6.25 season total) soared to a 5.46 on the final afternoon of the dual modified giant slalom races on Cozy ski run. But they stayed ahead of second-place Sofa Kings (6.71) when the dust settled.

Casino Dancing Bears had Neil Jessen, Kevin Doyle, Paige Griffith and Franny Hjort. Sofa Kings were Barrett Molter, Ted Tuma, Lenny Joseph and Bob Buchanan.

Placing 3-4-5 for the seven-week series among the 31 teams were Tekasoreasses (10.38), Pulling Out's for Quitters (10.42) and Scums of the Pioneers (11.32). The Sun Valley Ski Education Founda-tion and Hors to Culture were the only teams under 1.00 in Wednesday's race conclusion.

In individual racing, Carl Rixon Jr. led the 97 skiers with the best combined two-run time of 51.57 seconds, nearly a full second ahead of runner-up Robin Sarchett. Rabbit score was 65.42 sec-onds, Ted Tuma of Sofa Kings clocking that time.

SVSEF racer Erika Hogan had a great couple of runs, in fourth place overall with teammate Ash-ley Brown ninth and Sarah Mazzola 12th.

Top racers: 1—Carl Rixon Jr. (Tekasoreasses) 51.57. 2—Robin Sarchett (Glow Power) 52.51. 3—John Campbell (Team Ski Tek) 55.72. 4—Erika Hogan (SVSEF) 56.30. 5—Matt Murphy (Tekasoreasses) 56.39.

6—Brett Deuter (Freeze, Gopher!) 56.54. 7—Cameron Fraser (Scums of the Pioneers) 56.77. 8—Brett Jacobson (Pulling Out's for Quitters) 56.90. 9—Ashley Brown (SVSEF) 57.08. 10—Jan Hegewald (CBG-Flat Out Ridiculous) 57.32.

The names of 20 racers from the top five teams in the series were entered into a drawing for the top prize of four Sun Valley 2011-12 season ski passes.

And the winners were:

Neil Jessen and Paige Griffith of Casino Dancing Bears, Cameron Fraser of Scums of the Pio-neers, and Lenny Joseph of Sofa Kings.
