People and Places


Devan E. Annan of Bellevue has made the 2010 autumn semester dean's list (3.5 GPA or higher) at the University of Montana in Missoula. The 2009 Wood River High School graduate has made straight A's so far in her three semesters at Montana. She is the daughter of Tristan Ellison Gralenski of Bellevue and Drew Annan of Flagstaff, Ariz.

Receiving their degrees from the Western Governors University based in Salt Lake City were William Felton of Hailey (Master of Arts in teaching mathematics education) and Kerstin Swenson of Ketchum (Master of Arts in teaching elementary education). Western Governors (wgu.edu) is the only U.S. online university offering competency-based degree programs.

Stephanie Sloan of Hailey has earned placement on the dean's list (3.4 GPA or above) for the 2010 fall semester at Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mass.

Adriana R. Maniere of Sun Valley made the 2010 fall semester dean's list (3.4 GPA or higher) at Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Va. She is a senior majoring in theater arts in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.

Casey Bennett of Hailey, a 2007 Wood River High School graduate, earned dean's list (3.5 GPA or above) recognition for the 2010 fall semester in the College of Arts and Architecture at Montana State University in Bozeman. He is a son of Ken and Pat Bennett.

Spencer Harris of Sun Valley, a 2008 Community School graduate, made the dean's list (3.5 GPA or higher) in the College of Engineering at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa., for the 2010 fall semester.

Among University of Wyoming graduates after the 2010 fall semester was Donald Wesley Sewell of Ketchum. He received a certificate from the school located in Laramie.

Sun Valley resident Julianna Lamb has been named a 2011 National Merit Finalist. Julianna attended the Community School in Sun Valley for 11 years and is completing her final year of high school at the American School of Paris, where she will graduate in June.

Julianna also competed for the Sun Valley Figure Skating Club for 11 years. In 2010, she was awarded the Congressional Gold Award for 400 hours of community service in the Wood River Valley and was selected this past November as a Girl Scouts' Woman of Today and Tomorrow.

Caleb Pietrafesa, son of Mr. Robert E. Pietrafesa II of Ketchum, was named to the winter term dean's list at Choate Rosemary Hall, an independent secondary school in Wallingford, Conn.
