Gymnasts go for the “Pot of Gold”

State tune-up meet in Kuna


Wood River Gymnastics Academy athletes tuned up for upcoming state competition by placing well at the "Pot of Gold," March 11-12 in Kuna.

Among highlights was the third-place team finish of Wood River's Level 7 gymnasts led by Alma Stosius (1st vault, 3rd all-around) and Kaili Smith (4th all-around). Other top results:

Level 6: Bella Stethem 4th all-around, 4th vault, 4th beam; and Brygitte DeLaCruz 3rd beam.

Level 5: Haley Bjorkman 1st vault; Megan Downey 1st bars and 3rd floor; and Ciara Hulett 2nd floor and 3rd vault.

Level 4 girls: Addason Park 1st vault and 3rd all-around; AnneMarie Deffe 2nd beam and 3rd vault; Kaegan Wherry 3rd vault; Jessie Lambert 2nd vault and 2nd bars; Jillian Palmer 3rd floor and 4th all-around; Sienna Miley 3rd vault; Maddy Hovey 1st vault and 2nd all-around.

Level 4 boys: Kaiden Minnick 2nd floor, 1st rings and 3rd all-around with a 78.7 score; and Peter DeLaCruz 3rd floor.

Level 3 team: The entry-level gymnasts were Kate Horowitz, Sydney Sisco, Kennedy Larsen, Taylor Merrick, Nysa Wood, Lucy Ludwig, Kayla Chaffey, Mykelti Blackburn and Kaidence Porter.
