Two Ketchum residents were injured Sunday night in a head-on car crash on state Highway 75 just south of St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center.

The Blaine County Sheriff's Office identified the victims Monday as Dionisio Garcia, 64, and Alex Chavez, 15. Both were transported to St. Luke's by Ketchum Fire Department ambulance. Sheriff's Lt. Jay Davis described the injuries as "non-life-threatening."

Davis said the accident occurred shortly before 8:10 p.m. when a northbound silver 1997 Dodge Intrepid, driven by Garcia, collided with a southbound white 1995 Ford Explorer driven by Brian Burnett, 32, of Hailey.

"According to witnesses, Dionisio slid while rounding the corner and hit Burnett head on," Davis said.

The accident remained under investigation Tuesday. Davis said no citations had been issued. He said the roadway was covered with snow and ice at the time of the accident. The accident report did not state whether the parties involved were wearing seatbelts.
