Championship GS closes out ski club season

On Baldy Tuesday


The Sun Valley Ski Club's alpine race season ended on Tuesday, March 16 with the championship giant slalom. A total 27 skiers took part.

Nancy Auseklis came out on top by a .09-second margin over Anna Droege after two runs and became the ladies giant slalom champion. Third place went to Kirstin Kozlowski.

John Campbell simply out-raced the men's field and easily took the men's giant slalom championship with the fastest two-run combined time of 75.98 seconds. Pat Revallier (79.62) came in second, and Ken Dreyer (82.69) took third.

Representing the ski club, Dreyer said, "The Sun Valley Ski Club thanks Sun Valley Resort and the Sun Valley race department for a successful race season."

Men's Class 11 (75-79): 1—Carl Fullman 91.33. 2—Herb Nolan 97.15.

Men's Class 10 (70-74): 1—Keith Thompson 91.76. 2—Frank Ward 96.16. 3—Ned Lumpkin 98.24.

Women's Class 10: 1—Anna Droege 91.27. 2—Trudi Schneider 105.54.

Men's Class 9 (65-69): 1—Bob Sarchett 87.65. 2—Jeff Sogard 91.90. 3—Steve Slivinski 95.48. 4—Fred Beguin 97.16. 5—Chas Horine 107.86.

Women's Class 9: 1—Nancy Auseklis 91.18.

Men's Class 8 (60-64): 1—Jim Ragan 84.36. 2—Don Lofgren 104.30. DSQ—Mike Lafferty.

Women's Class 8: 1—Randy DuBois 93.00.

Men's Class 7 (55-59): 1—Ken Dreyer 82.69. 2—John Reagle 83.58. 3—Dan Kurdy 85.18.

Women's Class 7: 1—Nancy Dreyer 96.44.

Men's Class 5 (45-49): 1—John Campbell 75.98.

Men's Class 4 (40-44): 1—Pat Revallier 79.62. Also: David Reid.

Women's Class 4: 1—Kirstin Ko-zlowski 92.58.

Men's Class 2 (30-34): DNF—Robin Sarchett.
