Sign up for Lane Parrish racing on Baldy

Spring locals event March 27, April 1-2

The races are the same—super giant slalom, halfpipe and moguls—but the format is a little different for the 19th annual Lane Parrish Memorial.

The friendly, local competition will be held over two weekends at the end of March and early April to accommodate more local kids, according to organizer Ken Corrock.

This year's "Monster" Lane Parrish Memorial, named so because of the Monster energy drink sponsorship, is Sunday, March 27 (SG on Greyhawk) plus Friday, April 1 (halfpipe on Baldy) and Saturday, April 2 (bumps on Brick's Island).

Any money raised goes to the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation's Freestyle Team and the Soldier Mountain downhill. There will be one "combined" category this year (all 3 events, SG, HP and M).

Entry deadlines are Friday, March 25 for "combined" and SG racers, and Wednesday, March 30 for halfpipe and bumps. No day-of-race registration will be accepted.

Drop off entries and get your T-shirt at Apple's Bar & Grill or the SVSEF office. Cost is $60 per person for three events, $45 for two events and $25 for one event. That includes T-shirt.

A classic Sun Valley persona of the 1970s, Parrish was a speed and bump skier and movie stuntman who died at age 33 in a plane crash near Twin Falls in 1990. This will be the third straight year that halfpipe has joined SG and bumps on the Parrish agenda.
