Laugh the nights away

Boiler Room features comedy of all kinds

Après-ski is not only cocktails and lounging, its lounge acts at Sun Valley Resort's Boiler Room. Valley comedian Mike Murphy will provide free laughs this evening beginning at 6 p.m. Arrive early because the Boiler Room fills to capacity to see this funny man, especially since he will retire after the season.

Another enjoyable après-ski show is the unique, high-heeled and high-camp girls who are The Vuarnettes. The Vuarnettes perform Thursdays at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 at the door. In addition, "Forever Plaid" hits the stage at 7:30 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $10 at the door.

The Winter Comedy Series on Friday and Saturday nights at 6 p.m. is another staple for après-ski fun. This weekend, Steve Mazan and Dan Gabriel will provide the jokes on Friday, March 11, and Saturday, March 12. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Mazan's influences range from comedic greats Richard Pryor to the loveable Muppet Fozzie Bear. He has formed a unique style that bridges the gap between gritty and goofy. Smart and silly as well as daft and caustic, Mazan is a clever and clean comedy show.

Gabriel has been on "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" and Comedy Central's "Premium Blend." His television and film appearances span from Showtime to his own writing for "Asia Street Comedy" and "Object of Desire" for AZNtv.com and "Thugs on Film," an animated short series on BBC America. He has performed at the House of Blues for the 2000 New Orleans Comedy Festival and on the Comedy Central Live tour.

The Boiler Room offers a full bar and appetizer menu for all shows. For details, call 622-2148.
