Play stereotypes the elderly

With all due respect and appreciation for Gary Hoffman, his cast and the nextage Theatre's presentation of "The Gin Game," the play was a stereotypical representation of nursing-home culture. It was a cliche lacking a catharsis that would make anyone want to address the "three plagues" of the elderly (Dr. Bill Thomas)—helplessness, loneliness and boredom. Fortunately, I see on a daily basis the staff at Blaine Manor trying to eradicate these plagues.
