Regular school levies will help taxpayers

I would like to applaud Rep. Dennis Lake and Rep. Ken Roberts for recognizing that although the airport in this valley is called "Sun Valley," not all of us are wealthy. In fact, many of us are happy to just pay our bills each month, and there is an increasing number of individuals who are not able to do that. The weekly listing of homes in foreclosure is not getting any shorter. We have all had to tighten our belts to the point that it hurts, and we need property tax relief in the this valley, too.

Our school district is living in a different world if it thinks Dual Immersion and International Baccalaureate courses are necessary programs in this economy. Instead of creating a new public relations position, let's see how the district can cut its administrative costs and other nonessential programs. Taking away the district's automatic funding may make it more fiscally responsible. A vote every two years is not a bad thing.
