Spend a Saturday learning more about baseball

At WR Day Baseball Camp

Teaching baseball the “Wolverine Way” is important to WoodRiverHigh School baseball coach Matt Nelson, so Nelson has planned his Wood River Day Baseball Camp for Saturday, March 5 in Hailey.

Uhrig Fencing is the sponsor. Times are 8 a.m. to 12 noon Saturday in the high school gym, Hailey. Age range of Saturday’s campers is 9-15.

Nelson said, “Our goal is to help give these young players the tools to make their baseball experience more fun and to get the kids ready for playing baseball in months to come.

“You don’t have to be the best ballplayer in the valley to enjoy this camp. It is meant to give every player an opportunity to learn the game from the most fundamental standpoint.”
Registration is from 7:30-8 a.m. Saturday followed by an introduction and welcome, hitting stations and pitching fundamentals, fielding stations, whiffle ball game and wrap-up.

Cost is $25 for four hours of instruction and a T-shirt. Make checks payable to WR Baseball. Registration is day-of-camp only, and you’ll need to fill out a form upon arrival.

Sometime today, e-mail Wolverine head coach Nelson (721-2784) at mnelson@blaineschools.org with the name of the camper, shirt size and age so that the count can be determined.
