Marc Onetto

Ever wonder how Amazon.com functions? Marc Onetto, the company's senior vice president of worldwide operations and customer service, will offer some insight during a free presentation at The Community Library in Ketchum, today, Feb. 18, at 6 p.m.

Onetto leads the supply chain, warehousing, transportation and customer-support operations for Amazon.com, the largest e-retailer in the world. His responsibility covers the activity of tens of thousands of employees in the U.S., United Kingdom, Ireland, Germany, France, India, Japan, China and Costa Rica who assure the fulfillment of millions of customer orders per day.

Onetto is pioneering the application of lean management, a production practice that seeks to eliminate inefficiencies while focusing on what really matters to customers.

From 2003 to 2006, Onetto was executive vice president of worldwide operations for Solectron, a $12 billion firm involved in electronics manufacturing and integrated supply-chain services. Onetto also had a successful 15-year career with General Electric.

Prior to General Electric, Onetto served 12 years with Exxon Corp. in petroleum product trading, information systems and finance. He was awarded the Chevalier de l'Ordre National du Mérite, a French decoration to recognize his contribution to Franco-American friendship and business collaboration.
