Did Mountain Rides bring the snow?

Bus ridership up in January

If you want it to snow, just tell Mountain Rides Executive Director Jason Miller.

At Wednesday's meeting of the Mountain Rides Transportation Authority board of directors, Miller was giving a monthly report on bus ridership and operations while board members and the audience followed along on a meeting packet written earlier.

As a final item on the report, Miller had written: "We all want snow!"

"I just threw that in, and here we have it," Miller said, turning and pointing to a window at Ketchum City Hall council chambers where Wednesday's heavy snowfall could be seen.

Board members congratulated Miller on bringing snow to the Wood River Valley.

"You should have put that in the report last month," said board member Nils Ribi, a Sun Valley city councilman.

Snow or not, Miller reported that ridership in January was "the highest in a decade" for the month and was 7 percent above ridership in January 2010.

"Another strong month—we continue on our strong trend," he said.

The board also welcomed new board member Steve Wolper to replace Eiron Schofield, who served for three years on the board representing Friends of Mountain Rides.
