Dr. Lucille Fostvedt


Dr. Lucille Fostvedt passed away on her 94th birthday, Jan. 14, 2011. Lucille was a pioneer in the medical field. She was the first female doctor in Palm Springs, Calif. She was the first female presi-dent of the Riverside County Medical Society. She was the first female president of the Palm Springs Academy of Medicine.

Active all of her life in breast cancer survivors' and awareness groups, she received the St. George Award from the American Cancer Society, the highest award given to cancer advocates.

She delivered more than 6,300 babies in her career as an obstetrician in Palm Springs.

She is survived by 10 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and her sons, Craig and Karsten, and daughter, Andrea.
