Psychic’s Vision Gave Owner Hope

Carpenter Paul Bernstein was working in East Fork several years ago when his Labrador-great Dane mix, Gus, went missing. Bernstein, a Hailey resident, put up 300 notices in the valley. After Bernstein was referred to psychic Barbara Baker, Baker told him she had a vision of Gus alive and alone in a locked, dark room with curtains. Bernstein conducted a door-to-door search in East Fork and heard a familiar bark from behind a closed door. Bernstein and a friend unhinged the door and freed Gus, who was hungry, skinny and thirsty after four days alone. They speculated that landscapers might have let the dog into the house. Bernstein never met Baker in person, but credits her with Gus’ survival. “She helped me believe he was alive, so I didn’t give up hope,” he said.
