     Organizers couldn’t have asked for better conditions for last weekend’s Sun Valley Freestyle Spectacular, a four-day Intermountain Division junior competition hosted by the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation’s Freestyle Team on Baldy and DollarMountain.

     Thursday’s slopestyle on DollarMountain attracted 68 athletes, the biggest slopestyle event ever hosted by Sun Valley. The competition featuring young athletes from Idaho, Utah, Montana and Wyoming reached a peak with 105 mogul races Saturday on Roundhouse.

     The entire weekend was filled with tremendous skiing under bluebird skies.

     Chief of competition was Andy Ware, SVSEF Freestyle Program Director. Judges were Thomas Collins, Randy Bybee and Bill Homan, and scoring directors were James Bourret, Sandy Kelly and Jeanene Parker. Technical delegate was Andrew Hayes.

     Among highlights: Sun Valley’s Trevor Hattabaugh throwing a 75-foot Kangaroo (double flip) to win the boy’s M2 slopestyle competition Thursday, right behind J1 Scott Nelson of Park City, Utah;

     Sun Valley’s F1 Hannah Haupt dominated the girls’ halfpipe with two wins and M2 Ben Parker captured his halfpipe class twice, finishing second overall among 33 boys behind Jackson Hole J1 Corey Jackson;

     Zana Davey did a great job in the moguls, winning Sunday’s singles and placing third overall in the duals won by ParkCity’s Aunika Phillips; M2 Trevor Norris led the Sun Valley singles moguls racers; and M2 Joey Richardson was seventh overall and won his class in Sunday’s dual moguls.

     For younger skiers, podium finishers in F3/M3 were Alysha Herich, Claire Siderman, River Kelly, Zac Maricich Siele and Luke Robertson. Making the podium in F4/M4 were Parker Nance, Alvaro Jiraldo, Eli Roberts and Wilson Dunn. On the podium in F5/M5 were Isabella Bourret, Aloe Orison, Devon Brown Alex Lafleur, Blake Harmon, Jamie Rollerson, Luke Rizzo and Hunter Diehl.
