Ski area offers ‘thrifty Thursdays’ ticket deal

Soldier Mountain ski area, north of Fairfield, is offering a special "thrifty Thursday" pricing deal this winter.

Buy any daily lift ticket and get a second ticket of equal or lesser value at no charge. Adult tickets cost $36.

Soldier Mountain, 12 miles north of Fairfield and 50 miles southwest of Hailey, is open Thursdays through Sundays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Last weekend's snow report listed snow depths of 41 inches at the summit and 31 inches at the base.

The ski area, first opened in 1948, offers 15 groomed ski runs and a terrain park. There is a restaurant in the lodge. Base elevation is 5,752 feet and the top elevation is 7,177 feet. There is 1,150 acres of terrain.

Tickets are $25 for youth ages 7-17, $25 for seniors ages 62-69 and $19 for adult military. Seniors 70 and over and children 6 and under can ride the lifts for free.

Half-day adult rates for $25 begin at 12:30 p.m. There are group rates depending on the number of people. Single-ride lift access to the backcountry costs $11. For more information, call (208) 764-2526 or visit www.soldiermountain.com.
