Scurry Through The Snow

A vole darts across the snow near the intersection of Sun Valley and Dollar roads on Monday afternoon. Voles do not hibernate through the winter season, but instead store food and move by digging tunnels under the snow, occasionally surfacing before diving beneath the powder again. The Wood River Valley experienced a large increase in its vole population this year, which in turn led to an increase in predators such as skunks, foxes and birds of prey.
