Linton Harold Collier


Linton Harold Collier, 84, passed away Dec. 30, 2010. Lin was born Oct. 17, 1926, in Los Angeles, Calif., son of Harold and Sarah Collier.

Lin grew up in Hollywood and graduated from Fairfax High School, a champion gymnast and football player. He joined the Navy during World War II and served honorably overseas. He married Dorothy (Dolly) Esther Taylor in 1948. Lin attended Pierce Agricultural College in Woodland Hills, Calif. He and his father owned and operated a service station in Hollywood, and then in Newport Beach. In 1968, he moved his family to Bellevue, Idaho, and purchased a dairy farm. After farming, he kept himself busy repairing dental equipment and windshields.

Lin was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed the outdoors and took pleasure in working with his hands. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dolly; sons, Dennis (Marjorie), Timothy and Randy (Kathryn) and daughter Debra Sarah Meinke (Eric); 11 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Lin's life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Wood River Valley, Box 4320, Ketchum, ID 83340.
