The Freddy Pink Band began as a Northwest club and festival act in the mid-1980s, performing their own arrangements, melding R&B with rock 'n' roll to create a sound they would call "rock and soul." The nine-piece band has often played in Sun Valley as well as around the country. Its mission is to spread its original brand of rock and soul as far as possible but always remain true to its Northwest roots. Through the years, the Freddy Pink Band's "A" list performers have worked with music giants Tina Turner, Sly and the Family Stone, Tower of Power, Ray Charles, Randy Brecker, Chris Botti, Little Richard, Johnny Rivers, Natalie Cole, Dr. John and Canada's favorite R&B legends, the Powder Blues.

Through Dec. 31, youths at the Sun Valley Resort can enjoy video games, fast track auto racing, guitar hero, hose hockey, giant twister, speed pitch, calf roping lessons, electronic putting challenge, music and prizes in the Sun Valley Inn Continental Room. Tickets are $25 at the door. A New Year's Eve party for youths will take place from 7:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. Tickets are $75. For details, call 622-2135.
