Book supports valley crash victim

Iconoclast Books in Ketchum will host a book launch for "Food & Wine" on Sunday, Dec. 19, at 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

"Food & Wine" is a cooking book created by friends and family of Greg and Denise Cordovano, who are longtime residents of Hailey. In July 2009, Greg was in a motorcycle accident on state Highway 75 and suffered a traumatic brain injury. He has been treated at various health-care facilities since, from hospitals and rehabilitation centers to his current home at Blaine Manor in Hailey.

The recipes are culled from dozens of meals made and delivered to Denise in Boise while Greg was hospitalized there. These fresh homemade meals were known as the "food and love" delivery. All the recipes are original and were sent in from all over the country. The book was compiled and edited by Dana DuGan, photos are by Dev Khalsa and the book cover is from a painting by Toni Whittington. All profits from the book's sale will go to support Greg's continuing medical needs.

Olympic medalist to sign book

Olympic swimmer and frequent Wood River Valley visitor Dara Torres will present her book "Gold Medal Fitness" at a book signing Tuesday, Dec. 21, from 5-7 p.m. at Zenergy at Thunder Spring in Ketchum. Torres won 12 Olympic medals during five Olympic games. Her most recent were three silver medals in 2008 at age 41.
