They started 2010 on the bus with a couple of dominant road victories over Kimberly and Century last January at Pocatello—and the Wood River High School wrestling team finished 2010 the same way Wednesday on the Hailey mat.

Wood River, filling each weight class with talented young wrestlers, debuted its new season with a 58-12 dual meet win over the Kimberly Bulldogs followed a 64-18 rout of the Century Diamondbacks to finish the triangular meet.

In each dual meet, Wood River won 11 of the 14 weight classes and did so convincingly—posting eight pins against Kimberly and seven more from Century. Of seven pins in the Century match, five were done in the first period.

Double winners for coach Shawn Huntington's Wood River Wolverines were seniors Kasey Barker and Jimmy Williams (2 pins); juniors Auden Ruhter (2 pins) and Teague Ruhter; sophomores Jared Anderson (2 pins), Storm Anderson and Tommy Bailey; along with freshmen Cooper Bailey and Kaleb Guisasola.

In the other dual meet, Kimberly won 54-23 over Century.

Wood River competes at the Bucks Bags tournament in the Boise area today and Saturday.
