Police investigate car burglaries

10 vehicles ransacked in Hailey

Hailey police are investigating a rash of vehicle burglaries last week in the northwest part of the city.

Police Chief Jeff Gunter said thieves searched 10 vehicles during the nights of Monday, Nov. 29, and Tuesday, Nov. 30, in the vicinity of Northstar Meadows subdivision and Empty Saddle Trail. Gunter said the thieves didn't have to break in to the vehicles, since all were left unlocked. Break-in or not, the crime constitutes burglary, which is a felony.

Gunter said some of the vehicles apparently didn't have anything the thieves wanted, but they did end up stealing cash and iPods from others.

Gunter said there are no suspects.

"Please lock up your car doors," the police chief said.
