Josey chosen for snowboard Grand Prix

Tryouts at Copper Mountain

Sun Valley Snowboard Team member Chase Josey has been selected as one of four riders in the country to be added to the start list of the Sprint Grand Prix events this season.

The reason for the addition is that the International Olympic Committee will be organizing a Youth Olympic Games to be hosted by Innsbruck, Austria in 2012. The event is for riders born in 1995-96.

Grand Prix events are going to be used as YOG qualifying events, so top junior riders were added to the start list.

SVSEF Snowboard Team Program Director Andy Gilbert said, "This is a great opportunity for Chase to compete against the top riders in the world and gain valuable experience along the way."

Josey will depart for Copper Mountain, Colo. with coach Josh Keefer on Sunday, Dec. 5 to begin training for the first tryout event Dec. 10, Gilbert said.
