Public invited to help plan new airport

2 additional events scheduled for next year

The process of planning a replacement airport for Friedman Memorial takes another important step next Wednesday, Dec. 8, when a Community Visioning Workshop takes place at Wood River High School in Hailey. The workshop—in the school's Distance Learning Lab—begins at 5 p.m. It is open to all interested parties.

With key community leaders on hand, this workshop is intended to give the public a chance to help shape the guiding principles and objectives for the design of a replacement airport. Those in attendance will have a chance to provide their input at the workshop, which is the first of three scheduled for that purpose.

A Sustainability Workshop is scheduled for February and a second Visioning Workshop in April.

Topics open for discussion at next Wednesday's workshop include such questions as:

( What should the mission statement be for a replacement airport?

( For whom should the airport be designed?

( What local and regional cultural influences should be reflected in the airport's design?

( What forms of transportation should be available at the replacement airport?
