Attend Hospice tree lighting

A lighting and dedication ceremony for the Hospice Memorial Tree will take place Monday, Dec. 6, at 5 p.m. The tree is located near the liquor store on Leadville Avenue in Ketchum.

To make a donation to light a bulb in memory of a loved one who has died, call the Hospice and Palliative Care of the Wood River Valley at 726-8464.

Angel tree gives to children

The Little River Preschool will erect the 16th annual Angel Tree for needy children in the Wood River Valley. Stop by the preschool at 511 S. Main St. in Hailey, Atkinsons' Market in Hailey or the Pioneer Federal Credit Union in Hailey to pick up a tag with a child's wish. Purchase the gift wish and attach the tag to the top of the package and drop it off at the Little River Preschool on or before Tuesday, Dec. 14. For details, call 788-7702.

Caritas sing-a-long to help hungry

Caritas Chorale of the Wood River Valley will conduct a family sing-a-long at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Sun Valley on Saturday, Dec. 4, at 6:30 p.m. The event is free to the public but a cash or non-perishable food donation to the Hunger Coalition would be appreciated. Music sheets will be available to attendees. The choir will sing the Hallelujah Chorus followed by other holiday songs for all ages. For details, call 450-9214.

Reflections on Christ's nativity

A special Advent service will take place at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Sun Valley on Sunday, Dec. 5, at 5:30 p.m. The service will include secular and religious lessons, music and readings from works by Emily Dickinson, Vassar Miller and Billy Collins. Discover how to boost sales

Elizabeth Briggeman of eb Ready to Wear will hold a customer service and sales seminar on Monday, Dec. 6, from 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Galleria on Leadville Avenue in Ketchum. The seminar will give attendees fresh ideas to improve customer service and selling skills. The seminar will focus on valuing the customer and listening to his or her needs as well as on presenting a positive and optimistic attitude toward customers. Shop in Hailey, win raffle prizes

The Hailey Chamber of Commerce will award prizes from restaurants, shops, and service providers in the Hailey Holiday Raffle. The chamber is also offering to wrap locally purchased gifts for Hailey shoppers. To qualify for the free wrapping service, shoppers must show a receipt for the locally purchased gifts.

Hailey shoppers will receive one raffle ticket for every $10 spent at participating businesses, with a limit of 25 tickets per purchase.

Three raffles will take place, on Saturday, Dec. 11, Saturday, Dec. 18, and Friday, Dec. 24. Each raffle will include dozens of prizes and gift certificates, and one lucky shopper will win Chamber Bucks, $500 on Dec. 11, $1,000 on Dec. 18 and $1,500 on Dec. 24.
