Musher, Blue Devils players top Northside picks

Peterson of Camas leads All-Leaguers

Camas County's powerful junior hitter Katelyn Peterson, who led the Mushers to their second straight State 1A Division 2 volleyball tournament title Oct. 30, leads the picks of the 2010 Northside Conference teams.

Peterson spearheaded Camas County's sweep through the Northside tournament and the state meet at Burley High School. Voted Northside "Coach of the Year" was first-year Mushers coach Shelli Schroeder.

At state, Camas County defeated Nezperce in three games, outlasted Garden Valley 25-17, 23-25, 25-21, 16-25, 15-12 in the semi-finals and defeated North Gem of Bancroft in the final 25-21, 25-14, 23-25, 25-18.

Dietrich lost to North Gem in its first match at the eight-team state tournament and went on to capture the consolation trophy over Mackay.


Here are Northside selections:

First team: Katelyn Peterson (Camas junior), Micaela Adamson (Carey junior), Jessica Perron and Moriah Dill (Dietrich juniors), Kaylee Exon (Richfield senior), Kendra Flores (Castleford junior) and Brynli Wooten (Lghthouse Christian soph).

Second team: Carlie Strom and Stephanie Moore (Camas freshman, soph), Nicole Gomez (Carey junior), Yoshira McDaniel (Dietrich senior), Tawni Smith (Richfield junior), Karli Bower (Castleford junior) and Brooklyn VanderStelt (Lighthouse freshman).

Honorable mention: Larissa Stewart (Camas freshman), Darby Northcott (Carey junior), Natalie Goddard (Community School senior), Charley Bingham (Dietrich sophomore), Keegan Cenarrusa (Richfield junior), Lisa Canutoo (Castleford senior) and Andre'a Helman (Lighthouse soph).
