Soccer and volleyball players at Hailey's Wood River High School and The Community School of Sun Valley have earned post-season All-League honors for their efforts.
And Wood River football players gained team awards.
Soccer
Great Basin Conference tournament champion Wood River put four girls on the 11-player GBC first team. They were senior goalkeeper Madison Gove, plus senior back Taylor Hayes, junior midfielder Kaitana Martinez and senior striker Tanner Dredge.
Second-team picks, both juniors, were midfielder Sloan Storey and back Lucy Paisley. Junior back Maddie Bates earned honorable mention.
The team banquet is today, Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 6:30 p.m. at Rico's Pizza in Ketchum.
Voted by coaches, High Desert Soccer Conference 3A All-League selections from The Community School girls' tournament winners were Emma Wilander, Kelly Hennessy, Freya Dickey, Hailey Rheinschild and Ellie Swanson.
Earning High Desert boys' honors from the Sun Valley independent school were Tom Crosby and Zach Lindahl.
The Community School Fall Soccer Banquet is Sunday, Nov. 14 at 5:30 p.m. at Elkhorn Golf Club.
Volleyball
Second-team All-Great Basin Conference picks from Wood River were senior middle Jade Glenn, senior setter Jessica Hamilton, senior libero Ali Levy and sophomore outside hitter Lily Richards.
Kori Paradis, a sophomore middle, made honorable mention. "Player of the Year" was Twin Falls senior middle Cheltzie Williams. "Coach of the Year" was Jerome's Hannah Clark.
From Wood River, Hamilton and Glenn were chosen for the Northwest team in the 2010 District 4 All-Star volleyball matches Nov. 3 at Twin Falls High School gym. Their coach for the All-Star clash was Tim Richards of the Wood River Wolverines.
Football
Wood River High School football players collected team awards during the Nov. 3 team banquet in Hailey. They were:
Cross the Line: Greg Lindbloom. Outstanding Special Teams: Kasey Barker.
Best Offensive Player: Alex Padilla. Best Defensive Player: Drew Barsch. Toughest Wolverine: Nathan Farrow. Best Lineman: Ben Williams.
Ben Hofferber and Buck Horn were recognized for 100% attendance over the summer.
The six Senior Huddle leaders were singled out for their contributions to the program; in improving our team attitude, effort and play. They were Alex Padilla, Kevin Jensen, Alex Thomas, Kasey Barker, Ben Hofferber and John Siegel.
