Maggie Acker Collins

New vet joins valley practices

Maggie Acker Collins D.V.M. has joined the staffs of the Sun Valley Animal Center and the Sawtooth Animal Center, practicing in small-animal internal medicine and surgery. Collins will rotate between both clinics.

A graduate of Wood River High School, class of 2000, Collins said she is excited to join the family practice at the Sun Valley Animal Center, south of Ketchum, and at Sawtooth Animal Center, in Bellevue. She said she looks forward to launching new spay/neuter and family pet programs at both clinics.

Collins received her degree in veterinary medicine from Oregon State University this year. She has returned to the Wood River Valley with her husband, John Collins.

Business showcase set for Nov. 10

A free event that allows local businesses to display their products or services to the public will be held Wednesday, Nov. 10, from 5-7 p.m. in Carol's Dollar Mountain Lodge, in Sun Valley.

The 18th annual Business Showcase-Partners in Prosperity is sponsored by Zions Bank, Sun Valley Co. and other local businesses. In past years, businesses were charged $100 to register for booths, but it's free for businesses to attend this year.

Deadline for registration is Nov. 5. Space is limited to 50 booths.

Coldwell Banker taps new VP

Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties in Ketchum has promoted Stephanie Reed to vice president of sales and marketing for its Sun Valley office. Reed has more than a decade of experience in the real estate profession.

She will perform oversight of marketing, recruiting and management for the Sun Valley office.

New athletic center to open

Community members are invited to a grand opening of the newly remodeled Spirit n' Motion Athletic School on Friday, Nov. 5, from 5-7 p.m. 

Ribbon cutting will take place at 5:30 p.m. at the new facility at 3950 Woodside Boulevard in Hailey (across from Power Engineers). Attendees can enjoy wine, refreshments, a raffle and a small performance and demonstration at 6 p.m.

Spirit n' Motion Athletic School provides opportunities for children and adults to participate in cheerleading, gymnastics, stunting, jumping, dancing and fitness.
