Swimmers aim for regional meet in Gate City

Girls try to preserve winning streak

The Wood River High School girls' swimming team tries to extend its six-year winning streak Saturday, Oct. 30 when the regional meet is staged in the Gate City of Pocatello.

It qualifies swimmers for the state finals Nov. 5-6 in Boise.

Recently, Wood River's girls protected their first-place standing at an Oct. 16 meet in Twin Falls. The WRHS boys' team placed second.

The girls earning gold were Lena Friesen (200 free, 100 breast) Tayler Bates (100 fly), Kelsey Syms (100 back) and Elizabeth Fry (200 IM and 50 free). The 400 free and 200 medley girls' teams also prevailed.

Boys grabbing the gold were Adam Potts (500 free) and Bryce Ervin (50 free). Wood River's boys also swam impressively in winning the 200 free and 200 medley relays.

Other highlights from Twin:

Kelsey Syms 2—200 free. Tayler Bates 3—100 back. Audry Brassil 8—100 free and 12—100 breast.

Tori Emerick 2—100 back and 4—200 IM. Bryce Ervin 3—100 free. Addy Gage 7—50 free and 8—200 free. Lisa Hart 17—100 free and 16—100 breast. Lauren Lichtenberg 5—50 free and 5—100 breast.

Josie Potts 11—100 free and 17—100 breast. Chrystal Tullis 3—50 free and 4—100 free. Logan Johnston 11—100 free and 5—200 free. Luke Verst 17—100 free and 4—100 breast. Kailey Wilt 9—50 free and 10—100 free. Adam Potts 3—50 free.
