The Wood River High School girls' swimming team tries to extend its six-year winning streak Saturday, Oct. 30 when the regional meet is staged in the Gate City of Pocatello.
It qualifies swimmers for the state finals Nov. 5-6 in Boise.
Recently, Wood River's girls protected their first-place standing at an Oct. 16 meet in Twin Falls. The WRHS boys' team placed second.
The girls earning gold were Lena Friesen (200 free, 100 breast) Tayler Bates (100 fly), Kelsey Syms (100 back) and Elizabeth Fry (200 IM and 50 free). The 400 free and 200 medley girls' teams also prevailed.
Boys grabbing the gold were Adam Potts (500 free) and Bryce Ervin (50 free). Wood River's boys also swam impressively in winning the 200 free and 200 medley relays.
