Costumed runners will be prominent this weekend in the Ketchum/Sun Valley area where two fun runs will be staged on back-to-back Halloween weekend days.
Sunvalleyrunning.com is staging its first Trail Creek 12-kilometer (7.7-mile) trail run Saturday, Oct. 30 at 10 a.m. Starting near Sun Valley’s Trail Creek Cabin, the course will take runners around Proctor Loop, Aspen Loop, and the bench singletrack. There will be awards and costume prizes.
Register at active.com through Thursday for $20. Race day registration from 8:30-9:45 a.m. Saturday is $25. Don’t bring your dogs. Remember, costumes must be worn from start to finish for prizes.
As his senior project, Wood River High senior Brandon Wade is hosting a 5-kilometer (3.1-mile) running and walking race called “Willie’s Run for the Environment” on Sunday, Oct. 31 at Hulen Meadows Park north of Ketchum. All proceeds go to the Willie Neal Environmental Awareness Fund.
Registration is from 9-9:45 a.m. and starting time is 10 a.m. Entry fee is $20 per person, $50 for families. If you wear a Halloween costume, the fee will be $5 cheaper, Wade said. There will be a short race within the park for kids 10-and-under.
