Stephen Lyle Breneman, 57, died at home in Ketchum on Monday, Oct. 18, 2010.

Stephen was born to Lyle K. and Avon (Sowers) Breneman on March 12, 1953, in the upper floor of the Sun Valley Lodge. He grew up in Hailey and graduated from Wood River High School. He attended College of Southern Idaho, served in the Army and graduated from the Idaho State Police Academy.

Stephen served as a deputy for the Ketchum Police Department before being hired in security at Sun Valley Co., where he worked for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Jessica (Longhurst) Breneman, and son, Noah Lyle Breneman, age 11, of Ketchum. He is also survived by his step-mother, Carol Mansfield of Boise; his half-brother, Rick Reimers of Kuna; and half-sisters, Judy Kindleberger and Teresa Seivers, both of Kuna, Sandra Reimers and Polly Everett, both of Boise, and Kimberly Poole of Rockwell, N.C.

Stephen was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Janice Schmidt and Holly Breneman.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, in the River Run Lodge. Sun Valley Co. will provide transportation on the gondola to the Roundhouse where Stephen's ashes will be scattered so he can continue to watch over the valley he loved so much. Warm, casual attire is suggested.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Noah Breneman Education Fund at the Wells Fargo Bank of Ketchum.

Arrangements are under the care of Wood River Chapel, and friends are invited to leave condolences and share memories at www.woodriverchapel.com.
