Joe LeBard

Longtime local Joe LeBard died at home on Oct. 12, 2010, of natural causes. Joe was born to James and Ramona LeBard on May 14, 1944, in Tustin, Calif. After graduating from San Diego State University in 1970, Joe moved to Ketchum where he continued to live until his death. Joe founded and operated Wood River Drywall for many years until his retirement in 2004.

He was an excellent athlete and he enjoyed skiing, fishing, camping and most of all, kayaking. He was one of the early pioneers in Idaho in the sport of kayaking and he won the hole riding contest in the first Stanley Whitewater Rodeo. Joe spent many good times with his friends on river trips and yurt outings. Nicknamed "El Amore" for his love of the ladies, Joe made many people laugh.

He was preceded in death by his father and he is survived by his mother, Ramona Anderson, and his sister, Susan LeBard. Joe was a standup guy and his passing will leave a void in our lives.

A service will be held Thursday, Oct. 28, at "Piece of Cake Rapid" on the Salmon River. Meet at the Sunbeam Store at noon.
