Raul Ernesto Romero Mejia


Raul Ernesto died peacefully on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at St. Luke's Wood River Medical Center. He was 67. Raul Ernesto was born on July 14, 1943, in Huaraz (Ancash), Peru, to Cesar Romero and Ines Mejia. He married Delfina Campos Murriepa, the love of his life, on Oct 15, 1967, in Lima, Peru, with whom he spent the rest of his life.

After getting his master's degree in forest engineering from Universidad Nacional Agraria la Molina in Lima, Peru, he started working as a professor at Universidad Nacional de la Amazonia Peruana, where he helped many students graduate as forest engineers. After that, he became the general director of flora and fauna investigation for the Ministry of Agriculture in Peru. He was a very accomplished professional whose career took him all over the world and gave him a lot of recognition.

Raul Ernesto was an avid reader and enjoyed walking, traveling and spending time with his family. He was his wife and children's best friend and will be deeply missed by all whose life he touched throughout his journey. He was a very generous man to his family and friends and was always willing to give a hand every time he came across someone in need.

Raul Ernesto is survived by his wife of 42 years, Delfina; his son Raul Romero; his daughter, Silvia Romero; his son Jorge Romero; his daughter-in-law, Greis Briseño; his son-in-law, Alejandro Ponce; and his grandchildren, Joseph Romero and Joshua Romero.
