In an effort to expand the reaches of the Sun Valley Jazz Jamboree, the 2010 festival will feature an expanded dance program to include three competitions with more Lindy hop instructors, a more extensive dance schedule and a new dancers package.

An amateur competition, an advanced Lindy hop competition and a Jack & Jill open swing competition will all take place at River Run Lodge on Thursday, Oct. 14, through Saturday, Oct. 16, with finals at the Sun Valley Indoor Ice Rink at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.

Dance classes at River Run Lodge will include ballroom, beginning and intermediate Charleston, beginning Balboa, beginning solo jazz and beginning and intermediate Lindy hop.

Much like last year, the festival will have over 30 dancers from Portland, Ore., come to Sun Valley to teach and participate in the dance competition.

Participants will need a festival badge or a day pass. For details, visit sunvalleyjazz.com.
