Shy sheep greeted by big crowd

. Some 1,500 sheep from the Peavey family’s Flat Top Ranch stormed down Main Street after a noticeable delay. According to the festival organizer, the mountain-raised sheep balked when they saw the crowd of several thousand people in the center of town.

Alan Laudert’s sheepwagon, more at home in a field than on a city street, was pulled through Ketchum during the parade on Sunday by a team of draft horses owned by Lawrence Edwards of Carey.

A Peruvian dancer shows off some fancy footwork and traditional dress, as part of a group that celebrated Peruvian culture and Peruvians’ contributions to sheepherding in Idaho.

The Boise Highlanders regaled the parade crowds with bagpipe music, honoring the Scottish families who were among the first to run sheep in Idaho.
