WRHS girls shine at Ketchum Y swim meet

First-place win streak continues


The winning streak of the Wood River High School girls' swimming team continued Saturday, Oct. 2 when coach Brian Gallagher's team captured with the second home meet of the 2010 season at the Ketchum Y.

Girls earning gold were Tayler Bates (200 free), Elizabeth Fry (50, 500 free), Lena Friesen (100 fly, 100 back) and Colby Werley (100 free). Second-place swimmers included Tori Emerick (100 back) and Chrystal Tullis (200 IM).

The Wood River boys placed second in the team rankings Saturday, paced by runner-up finishes by Adam Potts (50, 500 free), Bryce Ervin (100 free) and Gus Kimball (100 back).

High school swim meets this fall are at Pocatello Oct. 9, at Twin Falls Oct. 16 and the regional meet in Pocatello Oct. 30. The state championship is held Nov. 5-6 in Boise. Other top results from Saturday:

Tayler Bates 2—500 free and 4—100 back. Colby Werley 2—200 free. Audry Brassil 7—100 free and 12—100 breast. Tori Emerick 5—200 free. Bryce Ervin 3—50 free. Addy Gage 6—100 free. Lisa Hart 12—100 free and 14—100 breast.

Logan Johnston 10—100 free and 13—50 free. Gus Kimball 7—100 free. Lauren Lichtenberg 3—200 free and 3—100 free. Josie Potts 9—100 free and 13—100 breast. Chrystal Tullis 7—100 breast. Luke Verst 16—100 free and 5—100 breast.
