On a 90-degree afternoon, Wood River High School boys earned the team victory at Wednesday's Canyon Ridge cross country running meet staged on a course exceeding the normal 3.1-mile prep distance.
Andrew Pfeiffer (17:48) placed second overall behind Burley's Parley Pickett (17:34). Three other Wolverines in the top 10 were Ben Stout sixth in 18:32, Alec England eighth 18:56 and Chase England ninth 19:00.
The WRHS boys (43 points) captured first ahead of Jerome (60), Burley (64), Twin Falls (73) and Canyon Ridge (108). The girls' title went to Jerome (29) with Wood River third (75).
Corrine Smith (22:45) topped the Wood River girls in eighth place. Wood River junior Jade Atkinson suffered a leg injury during Wednesday's meet.
