Dredge surpasses 100-goal mark for WRHS

Wolverines blank Riverhawks 8-0

Maybe some Wood River High School player will do it again someday, and that's a big maybe, but senior Tanner Dredge accomplished the 100-goal feat for the first time in Hailey school history Tuesday.

Four-year scoring star Dredge surpassed the 100-goal mark in career goals for the Wolverine girls' soccer team in an 8-0 Great Basin Conference victory over the Canyon Ridge Riverhawks at Twin Falls.

Dredge scored three goals with an assist as coach Jenni Conrad's Wolverines (7-2-1, 6-1-0 league) recorded their seventh shutout of the season and swept the season series with Canyon Ridge. Junior Kaitana Martinez (2 goals, 1 assist) chipped in with multiple goals.

It was Dredge's third three-goal hat trick in the last five Wood River games, and the 18th hat trick of her career. She has scored four or more goals in nine separate games. Her career scoring totals are 14 as a freshman, 39 sophomore, 33 junior and 15 so far as a senior.

She ended the game with 101 career goals. Dredge has scored in 44 of 70 Wood River games over the four seasons, leading her teams to a 53-13-4 mark.

The Wolverine girls took another step toward the program's 16th consecutive year of 10-or-more wins. They played at Burley Thursday and will take their 5-0-0 home record into Tuesday's clash with Great Basin leader Twin Falls (10-1-0, 6-0-0) at South Valley Sports Complex soccer field, Hailey.

Coach Conrad said, "The girls played a great game against Canyon Ridge. We worked on playing quickly and on all the different aspects of the game in our 3-4-3."

Other Hailey scorers were Nicole Roos, Sloan Storey (7 goals season) and McKenna Chase (10 goals). Conrad complimented the play of freshman Haley Montgomery (4 assists) in the midfield and up front as striker. Riley Kilmartin, another freshman, had an assist.
