Two Minidoka County residents were killed Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 93 north of Richfield.

Idaho State Police identified the victims as Andrea Barendregt, 25, of Heyburn, and Theron Pace, 24, of Rupert.

According to an ISP press release, the accident occurred shortly before 7:30 p.m., when Barendregt, driving northbound in a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse "attempted to negotiate a curve at an unsafe speed, lost control, exited the roadway and rolled the vehicle."

ISP reported that Barendregt was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle, while Pace was wearing a seatbelt and remained in the car. Both Barendregt and Pace were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

ISP reported that "alcohol is believed to have been a factor."
